Vertices of Plane Curves

PROOF. Apply Theorem J for the case w==r. We obtain for gr an expression which differs from the one just written only in the fact that the terms Brtr+ifr+i+Brtr+2fr+2+ • • • +Br,nfn are missing from its numerator. But the coefficients J3r,, = 0 when r<s. Hence the two expressions are equal. REMARK. The generalization of the method to orthonormalization with respect to a general norming or weight function p is obvious. One applies the process described to the functions (p)fi and obtains functions g% (=linear combinations of the (p)fi) which are orthonormal with respect to the weight function unity. Dividing through by the common factor (p) one forms functions gi(p)~~* which are orthonormal with respect to p.

Convex drawings of intersecting families of simple closed curves
A FISC or family of intersecting simple closed curves is a collection of simple closed curves in the plane with the properties that there is some open region common to the interiors of all the curves, and that every two curves intersect in nitely many points. Let F be a FISC. Intersections of the curves represent the vertices of a plane graph, G(F), whose edges are the curve arcs between vertic...
متن کاملContributions to differential geometry of spacelike curves in Lorentzian plane L2
In this work, first the differential equation characterizing position vector of spacelike curve is obtained in Lorentzian plane $mathbb{L}^{2}.$ Then the special curves mentioned above are studied in Lorentzian plane $mathbb{L}%^{2}.$ Finally some characterizations of these special curves are given in $mathbb{L}^{2}.$
متن کاملVertices and inflexions of plane sections of surfaces in R
We discuss the behaviour of vertices and inflexions of one-parameter families of plane curves which include a singular member. These arise a sectons of smooth surfaces by families of planes parallel to the tangent plane at a given point. We cover all the generic cases, namely elliptic, umbilic, hyperbolic, parabolic and cusp of Gauss points. This work is preliminary to an investigation of symme...

We discuss the behaviour of vertices and inflexions on one-parameter families of plane curves, which include a singular member. In particular, we discuss the context where the curves evolve as sections of a smooth surface by parallel planes. This work is preliminary to an investigation of symmetry sets and medial axes for these families of curves, reported elsewhere.

متن کاملIntersection graphs of curves in the plane
Let V be a set of curves in the plane. The corresponding intersection graph has V as the set of vertices, and two vertices are connected by an edge if and only if the two corresponding curves intersect in the plane. It is shown that the set of intersection graphs of curves in the plane is a proper subset of the set of all undirected graphs. Furthermore, the set of intersection graphs of straigh...
